The Peter G. Colton Memorial Fund
The Peter G. Colton Memorial Fund has been established to remember and honor a loving husband, father, brother, in-law, and friend. Peter died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2021 at the young age of 66.
The owner of the award-winning Fours Boston Sports Bar, Peter hosted Boston sports fans for decades, earning the reputation as "the best sports bar in the country". His experiences growing up in a large family, attending Boston Technical High School and the University of Massachusetts as a student athlete, and running a successful Boston business nourished a strong moral compass. Family, faith, friends, and athletics were always his focus; delivered with love, integrity, kindness, and unparalleled sportsmanship. His moral code was to listen more, speak less, laugh often, care deeply, and stand up straight.
The Peter G. Colton Memorial Fund has been organized to provide educational scholarships. Proceeds from fundraising support the Peter G. Colton UMass Football Scholarship – the first fully funded endowment scholarship for the university athletics department – established to provide opportunities for scholar-athletes in the UMass football program. The Fund is organized exclusively for charitable purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
