The Peter G. Colton UMass Football Scholarship

Peter G. Colton was a 1978 graduate of UMass and a quarterback on the varsity football team. This scholarship is established in his honor.

Peter, one of nine children and a star athlete, was also a scholarship recipient. He recognized and appreciated the opportunity that was given to him and spoke proudly of his experience at UMass: the education he received, the friends he made and his membership on the team.

He exemplified the original Massachusetts Minuteman spirit – there for family, friends, teammates, and associates at a minute's notice.  His family is proud to create opportunities for future student athletes and invest in the continuation of the minuteman spirit.

All proceeds of the Peter G. Colton Memorial Fund support this football scholarship established in his name – the first fully funded endowment scholarship for the University athletics department. Recipients will be chosen by the University of Massachusetts and must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Selection will be based on athletic and academic performance.
